What is DSD?

DSD stands for Difference or Disorder of Sex Development and occurs around once in every 1500 births. DSD encompasses a broad range of about 40 different conditions that involve the way the reproductive system develops in the womb through to infancy and young adulthood, producing variations in gonadal development, chromosomes and/or internal and external genitalia.

Medical management and psychological support needs vary considerably depending on each condition, the affected person and their families.

The reason why this COST Action was initiated is so that clinicians, those affected and their families, researchers and psychosocial caregivers can cooperate and promote knowledge based on scientific data, experience and sensitive and trustful communication.
